J'IRAI PAR LA MONTAGNE

Par ici et par là, couleurs qui piquent et soleil qui claque – ou l’inverse, nous voici en montagne de Haute Savoie, sur les contreforts du massif des Bauges. Sur invitation de la galerie Art by Friends, nous choisissons de faire écho au paysage environnant pour ce mur dans l’espace public situé au milieu du petit village de Seythenex. Dans un décor poétique aéré et plein de fraîcheur, il y a des bleus, des verts, un découpage de brèches blanches, un violet et un orange : une atmosphère végétale surnaturelle.

Demain, dès l’aube, à l’heure où blanchit la campagne,
Je partirai. Vois-tu, je sais que tu m’attends.
J’irai par la forêt, j’irai par la montagne.
Je ne puis demeurer loin de toi plus longtemps.

Je marcherai les yeux fixés sur mes pensées,
Sans rien voir au dehors, sans entendre aucun bruit,
Seul, inconnu, le dos courbé, les mains croisées,
Triste, et le jour pour moi sera comme la nuit.

Je ne regarderai ni l’or du soir qui tombe,
Ni les voiles au loin descendant vers Harfleur,
Et quand j’arriverai, je mettrai sur ta tombe
Un bouquet de houx vert et de bruyère en fleur.

Dédicace à un des plus beaux poèmes issu des Contemplations de Victor Hugo, J’irai par la Montagne est aussi un herbier surnaturel local :

en pourpre et vert acide, le Botryche lunaire, une petite fougère de montagne. En bleu de prusse, les globes du Trolle d’Europe; en vert bleuâtre, le très discret Lycopode des Alpes, aka “pied de loup”. En bleu pétrole et vert sapin, le Laurier des Bois; et en orange, la Pirole verdâtre. Jeux d’échelle et couleurs hallucinées participent à une esthétique faite pour interroger, tout en s’intégrant à l’environnement ambiant. A travers l’esthétique, c’est aussi une manière de sensibiliser à la flore locale et au respect du vivant.

Here and there, stinging colors and beating sun – or vice versa, here we are in the mountains of Haute Savoie, on the foothills of the Bauges massif. Curated by Art by Friends gallery, this mural painting in the public space located in the middle of the small village of Seythenex, echoes the surrounding landscape. In an airy and poetic decor full of freshness, there are blues, greens, a cutout of white gaps, one purple and an orange: a supernatural vegetal atmosphere.

Tomorrow at dawn, when the countryside whitens, I will leave.
You see, I know you’re waiting for me.

I will go through the forests, I will go by the mountain.

I cannot stay away from you any longer.

 

I will walk with my eyes fixed on my thoughts,

Not seeing anything outside, not hearing any noise,

Alone, unknown, back bent, hands crossed,

Sad, and the day for me will be like the night.

 

I will not look at the gold evening falling,

Nor at the far off boats sailing towards Harfleur,

And when I arrive, I will put on your grave

A bunch of green holly and heather in bloom.

Dedication to one of the most beautiful poems from Victor Hugo’s Contemplations, I will go by the Mountain is also a local supernatural herbarium:

in purple and acid green, Botrychium lunaria, a small mountain fern. In Prussian blue, the bowls from Trollius europaeus; in bluish green, the very inconspicuous Diphasiastrum alpinum, aka “wolf’s foot”. In petrol blue and fir green, Daphne laureola; and in orange, the greenish Pyrola chlorantha. Moreover, games of scale and hallucinated colors create a special intriguing aesthetic, while integrating into the surrounding environment. Through aesthetics, it is also a way of raising awareness of the local flora and above all respect for the living.
