Présentée aux Haras d’Annecy, Punchline Worlds est l’exposition collective itinérante qui fait la part belle au lettering sous toutes ses formes. Ainsi naquit Brouhaha, un volume en bois, référence au titre phare des Beastie Boys, imaginé pour plonger au cœur du lettrage.

Comment matérialiser un mot et sa signification? avec Brouhaha, nous avons imaginé un mot géant qui prend corps, à taille humaine. Sur près de 9 mètres de long, les pans de bois peints découpés forment trois niveaux de lecture, dans lesquels le spectateur peur se promener à sa guise.

Car le brouhaha, qu’est-ce que c’est? c’est un bruit de fond constant, un bourdonnement, un chahut ou une cacophonie, un bruit de voix confus qui s’élève d’une foule. Pour matérialiser ce concept et cette signification, voici un rose azimuté, un jaune acide, un décor surchargé : des couleurs saturées, un mot long à parcourir, des lettres qui s’élèvent puis descendent, des jeux de découpes affutées : un vrai brouhaha, en somme.

Presented at the Haras d’Annecy, Punchline Worlds is the travelling collective exhibition that focuses on lettering in all its forms. Thus was born Brouhaha, a wooden volume, as a reference to the well-known title from the Beastie Boys: let’s dive into the heart of lettering.

How to materialize a word and its meaning? with Brouhaha, (which means -hubbub) we imagined a giant word with a human scale. On nearly 9 meters long, the cut painted panels form three levels of reading, in which the spectator can walk.

Well, what is hubbub? it is a constant background noise, a buzzing, a heckling or a cacophony, a noise of a confused voice rising from a crowd. To materialize this concept and this meaning, here is a punchy pink, an acid yellow, an overloaded decor: saturated colors, a long word to browse, letters that rise and fall, games of sharp cuts: a real hubbub.
